mary cole house

Mary Cole House is a purpose built direct access hostel with accommodation for 21 men and 4 women.

All residents have a key worker, individual bedrooms and shared communal areas. Access is either by referral from other agencies or just turning up at the door to enquire about vacancies. The hostel is staffed 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

about arkangel

Arkangel is our supported housing project. We have seven two bedroom houses in the Birkenhead and Wallasey area for clients who are ready for semi-independent living.

Residents can stay for between six and twelve months approximately depending on their individual circumstances. Referrals to the project are either by self or through other agencies.

latest news

The Irene Kennedy Centre

The Irene Kennedy Centre is a purpose built training extension at Mary Cole House. It is used by our clients, staff and those from other agencies for a wide variety of purposes.

There is now also The Irene Kennedy Centre Drop-In. This open to all who are homeless, living in hostel accommodation, or threatened with homelessness who are in need of help and assistance. It is open 7 days a week, 9:00am to 3:00pm and 6:00pm to 10:00pm.

Volunteering at the ark

We currently have about 50 active volunteers who assist in many aspects of the running of our Mary Cole House homeless hostel and Arkangel undertaking such tasks as staffing the reception, fundraising and helping in the drop in.

This list however is by no means exhaustive and please click the Volunteering link below to find out more.

Wirral Ark Dinghies

Wirral Ark Dinghies is a social enterprise run by Wirral Churches' Ark Project. Residents take part in practical work renovating wooden sailing dinghies which are then sold to finance the project. We always have boats and Mirror dinghy parts for sale. We also repair dinghies at a reasonable cost.

fundraising at the ark

Fundraising is a vital part of the work at Wirral Churches' Ark Project. Every penny raised goes directly into helping our clients get back on their feet.

We keep this site updated with all our upcoming fundraising events.

Wirral Ark Training

For Church and Community groups we can provide talks, information sessions and workshops. We can also offer you training in matters related to homelessness and offer expert guidance and advice on homeless issues. We do not charge you for this service, but are always grateful for any donation you may wish to make.

Cycle Renovation

Wirral Ark Cycles will achieve its aims by renovating push-bikes, that otherwise would have ended up wasted and scrapped.

Homeless people and those from marginalised groups will be taught how to renovate, repair and maintain bikes and cycles.
