Volunteering to help at Wirral Churches' Ark Project
The Ark depends greatly on its 70 volunteers, who cook three meals a day for up to 25 residents. Other volunteers 'befriend', which is listening to, and supporting, those residents who want to talk about themselves and their problems. Volunteers also do shifts staffing our reception desk which is often the first point of contact for residents and visitors.
The usual pattern for volunteers is to come to the Ark for their 'shift' either once a week, or once a fortnight, or even once a month, for about 3 or 4 hours at a time. Usually volunteers stick to the same day of the week.
We acknowledge that volunteers need a break from time to time, and encourage the taking of holidays from volunteering for 2 months or so.
Other Ark friends represent the Ark in their church or group, and some sell our Ark Christmas cards, so raising funds.
We are always looking for new volunteers, so if you are interested in joining us, please contact
our volunteer recruitment clerk on 0151 650 6853. Alternatively you can write to us at:

AdoptaBed Scheme
All are invited to support us in helping homeless people to get back on their feet, by adopting one of our 25 beds.
We intend to make a stay in our hostel a life changing experience for a resident, where assistance is readily to hand to make the journey towards mainstream society.

Donating to the Ark
The Ark is generously supported by many people, churches and societies, with both material and cash donations.
To make a donation, please send/bring it to the hostel address on the contact us page. If it is a cash/cheque donation and you are a UK taxpayer, your gift can be enhanced by completing the downloadable Gift Aid form.
Regular donators can choose to donate by monthly standing order.
A letter of acknowledgement and thanks is sent to all donors.
Wirral Ark Dinghies
Wirral Ark Dinghies (WAD) is a 'business' run by Wirral Churches' Ark Project Homeless Hostel. Residents take part in practical work renovating wooden sailing dinghies, which are then sold at a profit to finance the scheme.
