Mary Cole House

The Residents

Mary Cole House Mary Cole House maximum capacity is 21 men and 4 women. They live in individual bedrooms, and have their own room key. Residents pay £17.50 per week.

Access is simple - new residents knock on our front door.

Residents frequently have a drug, alcohol or mental health problem.

Key workers support residents to attain their goal which is often obtaining their own independent accommodation.

Staff And Volunteers

The Ark employs 18 staff, 16 of whom work within Mary Cole House.

Costs are contained as all meals are prepared and served by volunteers.

The Building

Mary Cole House Interior Mary Cole House (named after one of the founding members in 1991 who sadly died before this 'new' hostel opened in 2001) is a direct access emergency homeless hostel.

It is located in Sandford Street, near Hamilton Square, Birkenhead.

The building was completed in 2001. The day to day costs are covered by a combination of statutory funding and voluntary donations.

Three meals a day are provided, together with showers, laundry facilities and clothing.
